Abstract<\/h2>\n

The debate on the study of computer science at pre-university levels and the development of computational thinking skills is open internationally. This conference will deepen this and will present the proposal that is being developed in the European RoboSTEAM Project to develop these skills and abilities through a learning approach based on challenges using robotic kits.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bio<\/h2>\n

Francisco Jos\u00e9 Garc\u00eda Pe\u00f1alvo is a University Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Automation at the University of Salamanca (USAL). He received the Beatriz Galindo award for teaching excellence in 2019. In addition, he is a Distinguished Professor at the School of Humanities and Education of the Tecnol\u00f3gico de Monterrey, Mexico and International Impact Researcher at the National University San Agust\u00edn, Arequipa, Peru. Since 2006 he is the director of the Research Group Recognized by the USAL GRIAL (Research Group in InterAction and eLearning), a group that is the Consolidated Research Unit of the Junta de Castilla y Le\u00f3n (UIC 81). He has been Vice-Dean of Innovation and New Technologies of the Faculty of Sciences of the USAL between 2004 and 2007 and Vice Chancellor of Technological Innovation of this University between 2007 and 2009. He is currently the Coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Training in the Knowledge Society of the USAL and Delegate of the Rector for Virtual Teaching. He is the President of the Association for the Development of Educational Informatics. He is the Chief Editor of Education in the Knowledge Society and Journal of the Information Technology Research.<\/span><\/p>\n
