The Rey Juan Carlos University<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>(URJC) celebrates a\u00a0<\/span>\u00abConference on Technology and Autism\u00bb<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>on november 13 with the aim of disseminating some of the innovative experiences carried out as the result of the collaboration between these two areas. The meeting, located at Vic\u00e1lvaro Campus (Madrid), at 10 am, will welcome all kind of audience: students and professionals interested in the application of technologies to groups with disabilities, relatives or guardians of people with TEA. Free access, the conference is part of the large activity program of the Science Week in Madrid, between 6 and 19 of november. Besides the URJC (LITE, Laboratory of Information Technologies in Education), will be the Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Madrid Madrid (AmiLab, Environmental Intelligence Laboratory) and the U-tad (University Centre of Technology and Digital Art), but also professionals from different special education centres such as Alenta or AUCAVI Foundation. Participants will be able to learn about different technological initiatives aimed at people with autism, professionals or family members.<\/p>\n According to the World Health Organization (WHO), one of every 160 children has an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Symptoms start to develop during the childhood and tend to persist into adolescence and adult life. Some people with ASD can live independently, but there are others with severe disabilities who need permanent care and support throughout their lives.
