This issue is titled “Recent Advances in e-Learning Technologies, Challenges and Opportunities” includes five items, which were selected from the 21 contributions received. The special editors of this issue are Carmen Fernandez Baker (UC3M), Gregorio Robles (URJC) and Pilar Sancho (UCM), all members of eMadrid.<\/p>\n

This special issue is promoted by the eMadrid Network and it aims to advance the state of the art in analyzing the weaknesses, threats, strengths and opportunities of new technologies applied to education.\u00a0The subjects are particularly focused in applications, tools and platforms, preferably in the field of free software, and \/ or case studies of innovative curricula, teaching models and best practice guides that show how to overcome barriers posed and facilitate the incorporation of technology and e-learning to educational practice.<\/p>\n
