Israel Guti\u00e9rrez and Derick Leony have obtained the first and the second place in the first round of the\u00a0<\/span>3rd ROLE Widget Enchantment Competition\u00a0<\/span><\/a>with their own widgets, called classON Questions and Learning Resources Affective Recommender. Both of them are members of the UC3M Group in the eMadrid Network.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0<\/span>classOn Questions<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>widget\u00a0<\/span>\u201cprovides the students with an interface for requesting help from the teacher, what makes mandatory for them to describe their questions\/answers in a short text. This information is very useful for the teacher in class, since he\/she might know the students questions before he\/she decides to help them; but it is also useful after the session, when the teacher is reviewing the session for further enactments of the same learning design\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the\u00a0<\/span>Learning Resources Affective Recommender\u00a0<\/span><\/a>(LRAR) widget\u00a0<\/span>\u201cprovides the list of most suitable resources given the affective state of the learner. The learner must indicate her current affective state and her learning objectives. This information, along with the user identifier, is sent to the LRAR Service where is stored and used to generate a list of recommended resources\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Responsive Open Learning Environments (ROLE) is an European collaborative project with 16 internationally research groups from 6 EU countries and China. Its\u00a0research is focused on creating tools for self-regulated learning that promote learner autonomy.<\/p>\n
