unX and HP Catalyst Academy launch free MOOCs for STEMx teachers
UnX and HP Catalyst Academy launch two MOOCs, one about Augmented Reality for Mobile Apps, and other about Mobile App Design with App Inventor without programing. Both on-line courses are especially adapted for Sciences, Technology, Engineering and mathematics teachers (STEMx) and are now available in Spanish and Portuguese. unX and the HP Catalyst Academy, is a network of free and innovative online professional development experiences for STEM+ teachers around the world. All courses offer digital badges and a certificate of completion.
Mini-MOOC about Augmented Reality
We are delighted to announce that unX new mini course, Developing STEMx Augmented Reality Mobile Apps has been added to the HP Catalyst Academy’s catalog of courses. This mini course is available in Spanish. Users who participate in this 4-week experience will learn how to create their own interactive AR apps to facilitate more visual and authentic ways for students to engage with content from wherever they are. Learn how to build virtual worlds to connect with other teachers and students.
These augmented reality apps will be extremely effective for training and simulations as they provide a contextual learning environment for students to develop and test new skills. Gain a better understanding of how AR fosters discovery-based learning that can be applied to ebooks or to model specific objects, such as 3D chemicals. Mini-course participants will use Vuforia SDK, a web-based app development tool, along with the Unity3D graphical environment, to develop Android and iOS apps. Register.

We’re delighted to announce that unX new mini course, STEMx Mobile App Design — Without Programming has been added to the HP Catalyst Academy’s catalog of courses. This mini course is available in Spanish and Portuguese. Users who participate in this 4-week experience will have a thorough understanding of what constitutes an effective educational app and how to build it — all the way from the design phase to testing the final product. Create apps that incorporate a wide range of features, including animations, games, sensors, location-based services, maps, quizzes, augmented reality, social networking and more. STEMx education professionals will gain all of the knowledge and skills needed to build these innovative learning resources and have the opportunity to collaborate with other educators from across the globe on their ideas.
