Abstract
The application of data mining in education / learning analytics (educational data mining / learning analytics) is a topic of great interest nowadays due to the large amount of information that can be collected by different teaching systems on the interaction with students. students. In this talk, this research area will be introduced, which can already be considered to be in its mature state after eleven years of the first congress on EDM and eight of the LA. It will begin by defining the different terms used (EDM, LA, AA, EDS, BDE, etc.) and highlighting the few differences that exist between them. The practical application process will continue to be described, seeing the actors involved and the different types of data most used. The main techniques used to solve the different problems in educational environments, the most used software tools and the currently existing public datasets will be shown below. Finally, the main bibliography on the subject will be listed: most cited papers, most important books and surveys.
