Great success of the Frontiers in Education 2014 conference held in Madrid, with important contributions of eMadridnet network members

The prestigious conference Frontiers in Education 2014 (FIE 2014), in its 44th edition, took place in Madrid on 22-25 October at the Convention Center of Hotel Meliá Castilla. The Frontiers in Education Conference takes place annually and is one of the largest in the world in the educational field of engineering, organized by the associations IEEE and ASEE. This is the first time the conference has taken place in Europe. It was the IEEE Education Society (IEEE) who founded it in 1971. The American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) joined as co-sponsor in 1973. In 1995, the IEEE Computer Society became one of the sponsors and together these three groups have continued to hold very high quality editions, and it is considered among the world’s two most important events in this area, along with the conference organized by ASEE.

Professors Manuel Castro (UNED) and Edmundo Tovar (UPM), eMadrid network members, have been the general’s Chairs of the conference, taking charge of the organization. Likewise, the coordinator of the eMadrid network, Professor Carlos Delgado Kloos (UC3M) was the opening keynote speaker of the conference.

The Frontiers in Education Conference 2014 has been a great success, which was attended by around 600 education experts, with 48 countries represented, more than 900 papers submitted, 500 accepted, and with an excellent programme that has covered topics such as game-based learning, MOOCs, remote laboratories, pedagogical aspects, learning analyltics, skills or curriculum design.
