Abstract

Video games can raise awareness of healthy habits more effectively than with traditional methods, as we have seen in the two editions to date of the National Congress of Health Games. There are video games to improve therapeutic adherence, motor and sensory rehabilitation, education for the population, training for health professionals and even research. The use of game techniques, gamification, in the field of health has shown in many clinical studies that it can raise awareness more effectively than traditional campaigns based on non-interactive informative materials. The difference is in the emotional involvement with the video game, which allows us to learn and even exercise without realizing it, while having fun, and without having to spend more than a few minutes on it. For health video games to be effective, health professionals, patients, programmers, designers and communicators must participate. Often a good video game is obtained but its communication is forgotten, so no one downloads it.
