Abstract
As part of the MIT Office of Digital Learning, MITx is charged with supporting MIT’s exploration of teaching approaches enabled by digital technologies, both within the MIT campus and through scalable online courses on the edX platform. The presentation will examine the structure, processes, early results, and reflections after the first year of course development at MITx. Specifically, it will examine:
- The relationship between MITx and edX
- Group structures and roles
- Reflections on the Course Development Process
- The first results obtained by MITx about the courses in edX
- Implications for campus education and experiential-based learning
- What comes next?
Bio
Daniel Carchidi is currently Director of Special Projects and Program Manager at MIT’s Office of Digital Learning where he leads the MITx global development effort and manages the MITx Fellows Program. Previously, he led the Instructional Development Center at the University of New Hampshire where he was responsible for promoting and supporting the use of educational technology in face-to-face and online courses on campus. Additionally, Dan was an Associate Professor in the Department of Education at this University.
