Abstract

The incorporation and irruption of the COMA (Massive Open Online Courses), as a new teaching/learning modality within the connectivism environment, is proving to be a real revolution that brings with it not only the massification of the student body as one might initially think, more than 250,000 students enrolled in three months on the Uned Coma, Unx and Miriada X platforms, but also the appearance of new professional roles, which try to mitigate in some way the lack of personalized tutorial attention that exists in traditional distance courses and somehow achieve a greater empathy with the students in such a way that they do not feel “institutionally” alone. Among these new emerging figures we can highlight, among others, two mainly: curators and facilitators. We are going to try to unravel the figure of the facilitator by highlighting the functions that he must perform in a course of these characteristics.
