«The Importance of Learning Analytics in Massive Online and Open Courses: Examples of the unX Community and the UNED COMA Project»

Abstract

Learning Analytics on large on-line communities and massive open on-line courses provides a huge potential knowledge to assess education beyond the traditional model of university classes. The speech will focus on how the unX Community and UNED COMA (UNED MOOCs platform) approach Learning Analytics to examine effective education strategies, pedagogies and practices that lead to student success, as well as the applicability of official academic credits in a MOOC environment.

Bios

She holds a Degree in Political and Administration Sciences and a Degree in Labour Science. She is a specialist in data analysis and was the person responsible for the local labour observatory in Mancomunitat Alt Penedès-Garraf. She was a member of the Cabinet of the Minister of Industry, Tourism and Trade for 4 years as a consultant in parliamentary affairs. She has participated in projects for promoting virtual training in massive higher education, as the Deputy Director of Project Design in CSEV.

He holds a Degree in Telecommunications Engineering by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, specialised in technology management. He has also studied at the Università degli Studi di Roma La Sapienza “di Ingegneria Facoltà (Rome). He has worked at the Spanish National Observatory for Telecommunication and the Information Society and at Rooter Analysis. He has written and published several sectorial reports and has been coordinating European projects since 2010, gaining extensive experience in the field of education innovation and IT implementation in the new e-learning paradigm. Currently he is the Deputy Director of Project Development at CSEV.

She holds a Philology Degree and a MBA on Publishing. Extensive consultancy experience defining and developing learning projects, such as formative strategies and multimedia solutions focused on knowledge transmission. Extensive experience with whole production chain of eLearning solutions. Overseeing multimedia production, author content development, finance, media providers and quality development.

He holds a PhD by the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the Industrial Engineering School of UNED. He is Computer Engineer in Distributed Applications & Systems by the Carlos III University of Madrid (UC3M). Technical Computer Engineer by the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM). He teaches subjects related to microelectronics and digital electronics since 2007 in the Industrial Engineering School of UNED.
