Abstract
The talk will offer a view of the Wikimedia movement and how the Wikimedia Foundation came into existence, how it evolved, its activities and its plans for the future. We will also talk about the Wikimedia chapters, its initiatives and projects to promote free knowledge, and consider some activities developed by the young Spanish chapter, Wikimedia España.
Bio
María Sefidari Huici has a Bachelors’ degree in Psychology by the Complutense University of Madrid and a Masters’ degree in Business by the same university. She is currently a PhD student in Computer Science at the Rey Juan Carlos University. She is a member of the Communications Committee of the Wikimedia Foundation, one of the founding members of Wikimedia España, and currently its Vice-Chair.
