Abstract

In this presentation, the speaker will talk about the relationship between open education and digital competences in the context of higher education, with an international perspective acquired through her strategic leadership of the NGO Open Education Global (oeglobal.org), and her 9 years of experience in the European Commission, in the leadership of research on open education from the Joint Research Centre (JRC).

In addition, she will present the results of a research carried out at a national level in Spain, ‘Digital Competences of University Teachers in Spain: a study based on the European frameworks DigCompEdu and OpenEdu’, (2022, JRC-CRUE), where the area of ‘open education’ is investigated as part of the digital competence of teachers.

Bio

Andreia Inamorato dos Santos is a researcher, lecturer and international consultant in digital education, educational technologies and open education. She is currently involved in the strategic leadership of an NGO (Open Education Global – oeglobal.org), and research in open and digital education through the University of Barcelona, Faculty of Education. She holds a PhD in educational technologies from the Open University in the UK. She worked as a Scientific Officer at the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission (2013-2022).

Her work is at the intersection of research and policy, helping to identify opportunities and challenges in the implementation of information and communication technologies (ICT) to modernise teaching, learning and training practices in Europe and other parts of the world. Her main projects are the OpenEdu Framework for Open Education, the DigcompEdu Framework for educators’ digital competence and her research on Blockchain in Education. Andreia has over 25 years of experience in teaching and research in education, working internationally with institutions in Latin America, Europe, USA and Africa.
